Medical Assistant PositionOffering a competitive sign on bonus to the hired candidate. Please discuss with the hiring manager or recruiter for more details. Works with a pediatric provider performing poc tests, administering vaccines, rooming patients, drawing blood, calling lab results, working the in basket and e-faxes. Schedule: Our clinic has 2 locations and is open Monday-Saturday. We have an option of working 4-10 hour (730am-630pm) shifts or 5-hour (8am-5pm 4 days and 9am-6pm 1 day) shifts each week. Saturdays are covered on a rotation hours are 830am-1pm.Medical Assistants provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support in an ambulatory setting under the direction or supervision of the patient's physician or LIP/RN designee in accordance with policy, procedure and competency to promote patient health and wellness. Duties may include: patient care, vital signs, assisting licensed health care professionals, performing various laboratory tests, quality control indicators, and clinical intake. This position requires providing service to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.Position Compensation Range: The pay range for this role is $18.37 - $28.47 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: * High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: * None required. Licensure:* American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.* Currently enrolled or have completion of a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and/or hold a current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), the AMT (American Medical Technologists), NAHP (The National Association of Healthcare Professions), the ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants), or the NHA (National Healthcare Association).* Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months from the date of hire.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.The University of Virginia is an equal opportunity employer.
