Job description
Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant (MA) supports physicians and other healthcare professionals by performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient care. Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor, the MA works closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff. Key responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, recording medical histories, performing basic laboratory tests, and assisting with minor surgical procedures. MAs typically support one of the following areas: Neurosciences, General Surgery, Medical Specialties, and Musculoskeletal.ResponsibilitiesPatient CarePrepares patients for examinations and treatments.Records patient medical histories and vital signs.Assists physicians during physical examinations.Clinical SupportAdministers medications and treatments under supervision.Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.Performs basic laboratory tests.Administrative DutiesSchedules patient appointments and manages appointment software.Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in examination rooms.Handles patient inquiries, billing, and insurance verification.Equipment ManagementOperates and maintains medical equipment.Orders and maintains medical supplies.Ensures proper sterilization of instrumentsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting.Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree in Medical Assisting or related field.2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare environment.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Phlebotomy certification.Salary Range$43,500 + depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsStandard office equipmentRepetitive use of a keyboardMay be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients, or othersRequired MaterialsResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interest
