We recognize that our diverse workforce allows us to provide culturally competent care to everyone in our community.The Medical Assistant performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and customer service, collaborating with medical staff to ensure a patient-centered approach to care.As part of the essential functions of the role, the Medical Assistant:Collaborates and supports the team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to carePerforms clerical duties that drive efficient patient flowPrepares patients for provider visits and/or procedures by taking vital signs; accurately records medical history and determines risk factorsFacilitates lab and diagnostic tests at the request of the ordering providerConducts a review of scheduled patient charts to assist with pre-visit planningAssists and prepares all paperwork on behalf of patients including, but not limited to: prior authorizations for treatments and prescriptions, patient benefits, entitlements, disability, and other agency inquiries as assignedMaintains exam rooms according to protocols; cleans rooms and equipment between patient exams to ensure patient comfort and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked and equipment is functioning properlyQualified candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, current valid CPR/BLS certification, and one (1) year of experience in a healthcare practice; candidate must be able to travel to our Buffalo locations; Medical Assistant Certification CMA (AAMA) strongly preferred; familiarity with EMR system (Medent) strongly preferred; candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally; demonstrate familiarity with computers and MS Office; awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential.Job Type: Full-time; Monday-FridayRequired education: High School Diploma or GEDRequired experience: 1 year experience in a healthcare practice required; experience with EMR (Medent) systems strongly preferredRequired certification: CPR/BLS required; CMA (AAMA) strongly preferredWhat Evergreen Health Offers You:Multiple comprehensive medical health insurance plans for you to choose fromDental and Vision coverage at no cost to youPaid Time Off package that equals 4 weeks of time in your first year403b with a generous company matchPaid parking or monthly metro passProfessional development opportunitiesPaid lunch breaksEvergreen Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer; we do not discriminate on the basis of age, citizenship, color, disability, ethnic or national origin, gender expression, gender identity, language, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
