Job description

Certified Medical AssistantMississippi Sports Medicine (formerly Orthopaedic Institute of North Mississippi) is searching for a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant who can handle working in a fast-paced clinic environment with a positive attitude, great teamwork, and a strong desire for efficiency. This position will provide high-quality care to patients seen within the clinic, under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant. (Experience to be considered in lieu of certification) This position is for our New Albany, MS location.Duties/Responsibilities:Escort patients to exam rooms, takes detailed history of present illness (HPI), and confirms the reason for the visitPrepare patients for examination and be present during examination/treatment to assist the physician in treatment proceduresAssist physician in performing proceduresUpdate electronic medical record with relevant and current information about their health condition and changes and progress in patients' healthSchedule patient follow up appointmentsCleans and stocks exam roomsResponsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, returning phone calls, etc.Maintain a safe clinical environment in accordance with all OSHA guidelinesRequired Skills/Abilities:Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.Thorough knowledge of Orthopedic terminology and anatomyExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsDetail oriented with above average organizational skillsLimited X-Ray Machine Operator (LMXO) certification preferred.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent requiredMedical assistant certification strongly preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)Physical Requirements:Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds or greaterRequires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
