Mercy Urgent Care OpportunityMercy Urgent Care is a nonprofit urgent care network serving Western North Carolina, carrying forward a legacy of compassionate care established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1900. We provide excellent, accessible care to anyone who seeks our services, regardless of background or ability to pay.This is a cross-trained role combining front desk registration, clinical Medical Assistant duties, and limited-scope radiology. The position is designed for team members who are comfortable rotating between front desk and clinical assignments and stepping into either role at any time based on clinic needs.This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and a fast-paced urgent care setting. It is not the right fit for someone seeking a narrowly defined set of duties.Key Responsibilities:Front Desk and Patient AccessWelcome patients and visitors in person and by phone with a professional, friendly approachRegister patients accurately, including demographic, insurance, and financial informationVerify insurance eligibility, explain basic payment responsibilities, identify compassionate care eligibility, and collect paymentsAnswer phones, route messages, support patient questions, and update patient information in the electronic medical record while maintaining HIPAA standardsClinical CareEscort patients to treatment rooms and create a calm, respectful patient experienceObtain vital signs, perform basic assessments, and document health history, medications, and allergiesAssist providers with patient care tasks and procedures within scope, including physicals and splintingSupport waived lab testing, drug screens, blood alcohol testing, spirometry, specimen handling, telehealth triage, and patient discharge as neededLimited RadiologyComplete employer-provided training to perform limited-scope diagnostic X-raysPosition patients and perform routine exams following established protocols and radiation safety practicesVerify imaging orders, label and transmit images correctly, and document exams in the medical recordPerform basic quality checks and report equipment issues promptlyClinic Operations and SafetyHelp maintain clean, organized front desk, waiting, and treatment areasParticipate in opening and closing procedures, including alarm-related responsibilitiesAssist with inventory, room setup, equipment logs, and coordination of maintenance and repairsFollow infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and radiation safety protocolsUse professionalism and de-escalation skills in high-stress situationsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent requiredCertified Medical Assistant required, or Radiologic Technologist/Radiology Assistant1–3 years of direct patient care experience preferred; experience in a medical office, patient registration, or healthcare customer service is a plusAbility and willingness to complete cross-training in limited-scope radiology; prior X-ray experience is a plusStrong computer and communication skills, including comfort using an electronic medical recordWorking knowledge of insurance verification, registration, and payment collection preferredAbility to meet the physical demands of the role, including frequent standing and walking and light lifting up to 20lbs, with reasonable accommodations as neededWhat We're Looking For:Compassion, empathy, integrity, and strong customer service skillsA team-first mindset and willingness to jump in wherever the clinic needs support.The ability to build trust quickly with patients and coworkersEagerness to learn new skills and be cross trained across front desk, clinical, and imaging functionsSound judgment, adaptability, and professionalism in a fast-paced environmentCultural sensitivity and responsiveness to a diverse communityBenefits Highlights:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceHealth Savings Account and Direct Primary Care optionsLife and accidental insurance, plus short- and long-term disability coverageEmployee Assistance Program403(b) retirement plan with up to 4% employer match after one year of serviceAccess to financial planning resourcesGenerous paid time off, with over 130 hours accrued in the first yearPaid parental leave and adoption assistanceTuition reimbursement and Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibilityReferral bonus program and scheduling designed to support work-life balance
