Medical Assistant (Dermatology) - Sarasota, FLWe are hiring a Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our team at Academic Alliance in Dermatology in Sarasota, FL. In this role, you will partner closely with our clinical team to support both general and cosmetic dermatology services.While dermatology experience is preferred, it is not required. For students, this role offers excellent exposure to clinical procedures, pathology, and EMR documentation.ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll DoPatient Care & Intake: Greet patients, obtain medical histories, and accurately document all intake information within the EMA (Modernizing Medicine) EMR system.Clinical Assistance: Provide hands-on assistance during dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and other in-office treatments. Assist with numbing patients.Room & Schedule Prep: Coordinate patient flow to maintain an efficient schedule, prepare exam/procedure rooms, organize instruments, and set up trays based on provider needs.Lab & Pathology: Process laboratory and pathology specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and proper routing. Follow up with patients regarding pathology results and coordinate next steps.Communication & Admin: Manage clinical communications (provider inbox tasks, triage messages, voicemails, faxes, and internal requests). Support documentation by scribing during visits as needed.Compliance & Inventory: Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments following OSHA and infection control standards. Track clinical inventory, remove expired items, and replenish stock.QualificationsQualificationsPrevious experience as a Medical Assistant OR a strong academic background as a Post-Bacc / Pre-Health student seeking clinical experience. (CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification is a plus but not required).Skilled in obtaining vital signs, prioritizing patient concerns, and safely administering injections in a clinical setting.Comfortable working with computers, scanners, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Familiarity with medical terminology.Strong written and verbal communication skills (fluent in English) with a sharp attention to detail.Ability to perform effectively in a fast-moving, collaborative environment while maintaining strict professionalism and HIPAA confidentiality.Licensure/Certifications/EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program, or a bachelor's degree in a pre-med or pre-PA track, is preferredPrevious hands-on clinical experience (1-2 years preferred) in a Medical Assistant (CMA), CNA, or similar patient care roleDermatology experience is beneficial but not requiredPhysical Requirements:Ability to remain on your feet and move throughout the clinic for extended periodsFrequent movement including bending, reaching, twisting, and maintaining balanceRegular use of hands for clinical and administrative tasksClear communication both in person and over the phoneHandling everyday clinical materials and suppliesAbility to lift or move items up to approximately 30 poundsExposure to clinical environments, including potential contact with biohazards, chemicals, and sharp instrumentsBenefits (Full-Time | 30+ Hours per Week):Medical, dental, and vision coverage beginning the first of the month after hireShort-term and long-term disability, voluntary life insurance (employee, spouse, and dependent), critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans available after hireEmployer-paid basic life and AD&D insurancePaid time off and company-recognized holidaysRetirement savings plan optionsDiscounts on cosmetic treatments and skincare products
