Medical Assistant Position at Mayfield Brain & SpineAt Mayfield Brain & Spine, we are looking for a flexible and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our Neurosurgery and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation providers. This role combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, with priorities shifting based on the needs of our providers, patients, and team. If you're adaptable, patient-focused, and enjoy being an essential part of a collaborative team, we'd love to hear from you!NO AGENCY CALLS OR SUBMISSIONSEducation/Experience:High School Diploma required; graduate of a Medical Assisting program preferredPrior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, not requiredPrior experience working with electronic medical record software preferred, not requiredSkills:Practical knowledge of neurosurgical procedures and medical office processesProficient in clinical office dutiesDemonstrates excellent customer serviceAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong problem-solving, problem prevention, and decision-making skillsAbility to convey empathyExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to maintain composure and restore calm in a stressful situationUses good judgment and diplomacy when dealing with othersDesire and ability to work in a team environmentAbility to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate physician office hoursPrimary ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Assistant is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to assigned providers (Neurosurgery and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) to ensure efficient patient care and practice operations. Responsibilities encompass a blend of direct patient care activities and administrative functions, with the proportion of clinical and administrative duties varying based on the needs of the provider, patient volume, and operational requirements. The Medical Assistant is expected to perform both aspects of the role and adapt priorities as needed to support the delivery of high-quality patient care and service.Essential FunctionsHelp develop and maintain a corporate culture that supports the mission and values of Mayfield ClinicPrepare patients and medical records for office visits.Greet and room patients, obtain and document weight, medication lists, allergies, medical histories, and family history.Coordinate patient flow and maintain efficient clinic operations.Prepare patients for providers by assisting with procedures such as injections, wound care, EMG-related preparation, and other office-based treatments.Prepare examination rooms and maintain appropriate supplies and equipment.Obtain laboratory results, imaging reports, and outside medical records.Communicate with pharmacies, hospitals, imaging centers, and other healthcare providers as needed.Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, procedures, follow-up appointments, and treatment plans.Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).Place diagnostic imaging orders, medications, and pre-op orders on behalf of the physiciansComplete surgery consentingFollow infection control, HIPAA, OSHA, and practice policies.Provide cross coverage for team members supporting other providers, and during high-volume days.Leverage Mayfield technology including Outlook and Teams.Other duties as assigned.Mayfield Clinic Mission: To provide the best neurological care for our patients through:Superior clinical outcomesCompassionate patient careEducation and researchInnovationMayfield Clinic Values: All associates who are affiliated with the Mayfield Clinic must agree to use these values as a basis for their employment, and recognize that they are part of the associate's annual Performance Review and Development Plan:Integrity: We commit to honest and ethical behavior in all of our endeavors and interactions.Excellence: We commit to the highest level of performance and continuous improvement.Respect: We recognize the worth, quality, and importance of every individual and regard them with consideration and appreciation.Compassion: We commit to being compassionate and empathetic in all of our interactions.Collaboration: We embrace teamwork, mentoring, cooperation, sharing of expertise, and empowerment.
