Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Minneapolis, MN
Planned Parenthood North Central States
Location: 1200 Lagoon Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Pay and Schedule
Pay: $20–$25 per hour (MA) or $24–$28 per hour (LPN). Salary determined by experience, qualifications, equity, market competitiveness.
Schedule: Full-time, 32 hours per week, variable shifts on a four‑week rotation Monday–Friday. Shift times: 8:45 am–5:15 pm, 9:15 am–5:45 pm, 10:45 am–7:15 pm, or 11:15 am–7:45 pm. Work every fourth weekend Saturday and Sunday. Shift times of either 8:45 am–5:15 pm or 9:15 am–5:45 pm.

Minimum Qualifications
Medical Assistant (MA): Completion of a medical assisting diploma program, or associate degree in medical assisting, or current EMT/Paramedic licensure, or 6+ months experience as a Health Center Associate II at PPNCS
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate for healthcare providers
High school diploma or equivalent
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Active LPN license in Minnesota; Current BLS Certificate
Your Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Interview, screen patients, conduct patient history review, document in electronic medical record, prepare patients for examinations/procedures, assess, address or triage patient complaints, monitor vital signs.
Perform routine laboratory tests including venipuncture. Communicate lab test results, ensure appropriate follow‑up and process receipt of incoming reports.
Provide factual patient education, including FDA‑approved birth control methods, unbiased information, and specific instructions.
Inform patients about options related to unintended pregnancy, abortion services, and provide supporting materials.
Refer patients per protocol, perform follow‑up functions, and assure documentation of care plan.
Follow federal, state, and local laws regarding mandated reporting, abortion services, healthcare services, and HIPAA.
Provide contraceptive supplies, medications, and manage patients with medical emergencies per PPNCS protocols. Inventory control of clinic supplies.
Communicate PPNCS protocols, policies, and procedures to clinicians and staff.
Maintain knowledge of Planned Parenthood policies and apply to patient and clinic services.
Supervise nursing functions as delegated by the Health Center Manager or clinician/physician.
Participate in onboarding of new employees and support cross‑training of established employees.
Collaborate with and provide coverage at health centers in assigned neighborhoods.
Administer mild and moderate sedation, assist physician with surgical procedures, monitor patient stability, perform macroscopic exam post‑procedure.
Perform ultrasound medical services as per PPNCS Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&G).
Supervise and assess patient’s post‑procedure recovery.
Perform other clinical skills within scope of training and applicable state laws.
Immunization Requirements
Hepatitis B vaccination records and titers
Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination records or proof of immunization
Chicken Pox vaccination records or proof of immunization
Tetanus shot documentation
Tuberculosis PPD Skin Test no older than 12 months
