Medical Assistant PositionRanked as one of the nation's best hospitals for rehabilitation care by U.S. News & World Report, the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center is a 100-bed, private-room facility that offers an exemplary patient care experience for those dealing with the most challenging injuries. It encompasses comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services both for adult and pediatric patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries.Medical Assistant performs specialized work in inpatient or ambulatory care settings. Emphasis of the work is on assisting providers, nurse managers and Case Manager in the examination and treatment of patients and performing a variety of related clerical tasks.Responsibilities include:Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to): Using computer applications; Answering telephones; Welcoming patients; Updating and filing patient medical records; Coding and filling out insurance forms; Scheduling appointments; Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services; Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to): Taking medical histories; Preparing patients for examination; Assisting the physician during exams and certain procedures; Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens; Performing basic laboratory tests; Drawing blood; Taking electrocardiograms; May perform other advanced clinical duties under direction and supervision of a nurse or a physician, as needed based on assigned unit. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.Experience: Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.Education: Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant school is required.Credentials: Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants or credentialing as a Registered Medical Assistant by the American Society of Medical Technologies preferred.
