The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.Essential FunctionsProvides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful mannerPrepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to dateMeasures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and heightPerforms departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as neededMust possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptlyOther duties as assignedEducationHigh School Degree or GEDLicensure/CertificationActive Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)ExperienceOne year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required)Skills & AbilitiesPossesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsEngage with staff and patients in a professional mannerMercy Health is an equal opportunity employer.Many of our opportunities reward* your hard work with:Comprehensive, affordable medical, dental and vision plansPrescription drug coverageFlexible spending accountsLife insurance w/AD&DEmployer contributions to retirement savings plan when eligiblePaid time offEducational AssistanceAnd much more*Benefits offerings vary according to employment status.Department: Sardinia Family Medicine - MHP Cincinnati, LLC
