Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant plays a key role on the patient care team in a fast-paced pediatric outpatient setting. In this role, you support providers and nursing staff with daily office duties, assist with direct patient care activities, and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record. You help create a welcoming, efficient, and compassionate environment for children and their families while contributing to high-quality, collaborative care.ResponsibilitiesSupport providers and nursing staff with daily office and clinical duties in a pediatric outpatient setting.Perform specific tasks that directly support patient care, following established clinical protocols and office procedures.Conduct client intake, including gathering patient information, verifying details, and preparing charts for the visit.Room patients efficiently and compassionately, ensuring they are prepared for examinations and procedures.Document patient information, clinical observations, and visit details accurately in the electronic health record (Epic).Utilize electronic health record systems to update charts, enter orders as directed, and maintain organized patient records.Apply medical assisting skills and medical terminology in daily interactions with patients, families, and clinical staff.Provide patient care support appropriate to a pediatric population, maintaining a child-friendly and family-centered approach.Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and the care team to support coordinated care.Demonstrate flexibility in handling changing priorities, patient flow, and scheduling needs throughout the workday.Follow all clinic policies and procedures related to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality standards.Collaborate with the broader health care team to ensure patients receive attentive care before, during, and after each visit.Essential Skills12 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or outpatient setting.Current Medical Assistant certification from AAMA or ARMA, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days.Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program.Strong medical assisting skills, including patient intake, rooming, and basic clinical support.Proficiency with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic.Knowledge of medical terminology and health care practices relevant to outpatient pediatrics.Effective communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams.Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing patient and clinic needs.Additional Skills & QualificationsPediatric experience is preferred and considered a strong asset.Experience in an outpatient medical office or ambulatory care setting.Comfort working with children and families in a busy clinical environment.License is not required for this role, provided certification and diploma requirements are met.Interest in working in a collaborative, academic medical environment focused on advancing medicine.Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and continuous learning.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a fast-paced pediatric office located at 1 Longwharf in an outpatient clinical setting. You work a daytime schedule, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, for approximately 37.5 hours per week. The environment is collaborative and patient-focused, with providers and staff working together to deliver innovative, human-centered care. The practice uses Epic as its primary electronic health record system and is part of a broader academic medical community that emphasizes research, education, and advanced clinical practice. You will interact closely with children and their families, supporting a friendly and professional atmosphere where clear communication, flexibility, and attention to detail are essential.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New Haven, CT.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
