Medical Assistant – Part-Time (48 hours per pay period) | Bronson ProHealth – KalamazooMedical Assistant (MA) provides technical patient care based on the population served as delegated by the Charge Nurse. Duties may include the performance of technical skills as required within an outpatient office setting. The MA will assist the provider and nursing staff in collecting data, preparing patients for exams, administering medications and assisting with procedures. The MA will perform according to the defined policies and procedures for designated practice. Patient confidentiality and safety will be maintained as defined by the hospital department and practice procedures and policy manuals. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant programCMA/CCMA/RMA certifiedMeet eligibility requirements to take CMA/RMA and must be obtained within 6 months of hireNote: Vocational Coordinator to determine eligibility requirements for CMA or RMA within 6 months.• Must have the ability to do fractions, percentages, decimals, metric conversions. • Must have the ability to obtain, read and interpret data from equipment and computers and communicate findings amongst coworkers, providers and employers. • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills in interactions with coworkers and customers. • Must demonstrate accuracy and completeness in documentation and the performance of tasks. • Must have computer skills to facilitate accurate and efficient documentation in electronic health record. • Must be able to work as a team member and be able to effectively communicate in English with patients, visitors, and all members of the care delivery team. • Must be able to effectively handle confrontational situations with customers. Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required. • Performs basic technical skills in the provision of patient care. • Responds/offers assistance to providers, patients and families. • Communicates with the providers about patient status, interventions completed, data collected and pertinent input to facilitate care planning. • Collects data including weights, vital signs, demographic information, lab specimens. • Utilizes clinical equipment in providing care. • Utilizes the computer to enter/retrieve patient data as defined by role. • Accompanies patients during and assists with office procedures. • Orders, stocks and prepares supplies for patient/clinic utilization • Provides skilled technical care according to unit-specific and generic structure standards, protocols and procedures, prescribed medical interventions, and nursing guidelines. • Maintains a clean and orderly environment.Location: Kalamazoo-820 John St. - Professional BuildingShift: VariableTime Type: Part timeSign-On Bonus: External Candidates Only: Up to $750.00Retention Bonus: External Candidates Only, $750.00Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40Cost Center: 7690 ProHealth (BMH)
