Job description
Medical AssistantAssist physicians in providing high-quality patient care, while also exhibiting strong customer service skills to our patients and the overall practice.Brown University Health employees are expected to successfully role model the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these values guide our everyday actions with patients, customers and one another.Responsibilities:Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks such as: lab tracking and data entry, document management, obtaining patient histories and vital signs, verifying medication lists, preparing charts and pre-visit planningPerforms routine specialized procedures, such as EKGs, rapid strep, urine dips, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, etc.Administers injections including vaccines and medicationsEducates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parametersSchedules, coordinates, and tracks STAT patient referrals and pre-authorizationsWork quality reports to ensure gaps of care are closed and maintain consistent quality scoresMaintains stock levels for medicines and medical supplies as neededMonitors and audits vaccine refrigeration temperature in line with Department of Health RegulationsPractices safety, environmental and/or infection control methodsComplies with OSHA and DOH standardsComplies with federal and local confidentiality laws, including HIPAA, ensuring patient privacyAdheres to Brown Health Medical Group guidelines for protecting patients' demographic, clinical and financial informationProvides superior customer service and outstanding patient careAttend meetings/workshops as they relate to current position and office workflowsPerforms other miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High School graduate or equivalent required.Able to read, write and speak English.Basic Life Support Certification required.Completion of a medical assistant certification preferred.Graduate of a formal medical assistant training program or a minimum of 3 years of medical assistant experience required.Exceptions to the above requirements may be considered for applicants who do not have formal medical assistant training, but have at least three years of related experience in a comparable role, such as LPN, medical student, EMT, paramedic, etc.Pay Range: $18.13-$29.90EEO Statement: Brown University Health is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and maintaining a work environment free from all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment.Location: Brown Health Medical Group - 167 Point Street Providence, Rhode Island 02903Work Type: M-F 8:00 am to 4: 30 pmWork Shift: DayDaily Hours: 8 hoursDriving Required: No
