Job description
Pride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our client’s medical facility in Poughkeepsie, NY (12601). This is a 3+ month contract assignment (convertible to permanent based on your work performance). And a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organisation!
Specific Duties:
- Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients in established area(s) of practice and assists physicians with procedures.
- Performs clinical duties within scope of practice, complying with accepted departmental standards, policies, and protocols.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, focusing on addressing each patient's individual and family needs at the time of service; communicates identified needs in a timely manner.
- Directs and/or escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates clinical competence when assisting physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses during exams and office diagnostic procedures or treatments.
- Performs authorized procedures competently (e.g., vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests, EKGs, point-of-care testing) as directed by a physician or nurse in the clinical practice area.
- Seeks validation and guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses when necessary.
- Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed by a physician and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Inspects, cleans, prepares, and processes instruments and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and established protocols.
- Processes specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring specimens are properly labeled and that appropriate orders have been entered into the electronic medical record system.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of preferred experience
- Previous Family Medicine or Primary Care experience.
- Medical Assistant Certification from any National Board
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Current BLS certification (through an approved American Heart Association Training Centre)

- Basic computer literacy required, with intermediate Excel skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- The ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies is required
- Good communication and customer service skills required

Additional Information:
- Location: Poughkeepsie, NY (12601)
- Job Type: 3+ months contract-to-hire
- Schedule: 5 days (Mon-Fri)
- Shifts: 8 AM – 5 PM
- Pay Range: $20-$23/hr. on W2
