We are proud of our teamwork and friendly driven atmosphere to provide patient success.The Medical Assistant (MA) provides outstanding support to physicians and healthcare providers while providing exceptional care to patients and customers within the clinical scope of a MA. The MA ensures that patients are welcomed in a warm and friendly manner and sees that their needs and expectations are met. MA's are responsible for ensuring the smooth operations in the fast paced environment of the clinic with the goal of a positive patient experience with every encounter.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Performing administrative office procedures; coordinating appointments and procedures for patients, gathering and managing necessary documents (i.e. medical records, test results, ect)Triage patients and respond to phone calls, and messagesPerforming clinical activities and procedures including; obtaining patient history and vital signs; including weight/height, and triaging patients upon arrival including Meaningful Use requirementsPreparing and maintaining examination and procedure roomsAssisting with examinations, procedures and treatments (i.e. applying casts, DME's, removing sutures, and other related dutiesPerform injectable set upPerform pre-authorizations for surgeries, and injectable Submit referral for Advocate HMO patients if necessaryRecognizing and responding to emergenciesCoordinating patient care information in patient recordsEnsuring availability expiration dates of supplies Knowledge of proper operation of equipment in the examination and procedure roomsAssisting and maintaining a clean and safe work environmentMaintain OSHA and HIPAA compliance at all timesCompleting other comparable duties and assignments as directed by the clinic Physician, Physician Assistant and/or Clinical Operations ManagerEducation And Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent.Spanish speaking requiredGraduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred but not requiredCPR certified preferredPrevious experience in Orthopedics setting preferred or urgent care setting is a plus, but not requiredExperience with Electronic Medical Records systems and other medical systems a plusWorking Conditions/Physical Demands:Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of timeOccasionally lifts and caries items weighing up to 50 poundsRequires working under stressful conditions and having a flexible schedulePotential exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluidsTravels between both locations Oak Lawn and Orland ParkMidwest Orthopaedic Consultants is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
