You'll be hired as a Medical Assistant Trainee, receive paid training and full benefits, complete your education and externship, earn your Medical Assistant registration/certification, and step into a permanent role with Baystate Health.Program OverviewAs a Medical Assistant Trainee, you will:Complete Medical Assistant coursework through Holyoke Community CollegeParticipate in a hands-on externship at a Baystate Medical PracticePrepare for and obtain your Medical Assistant registration/certificationTransition into a Medical Assistant I role within Baystate Health upon satisfactory program completion and obtaining certificationThroughout the program, you are a Baystate Health employee—earning pay, benefits, and valuable experience from day one.What You'll Do as a Medical AssistantMedical Assistants play a vital role in patient care, including:Taking vital signs and patient historiesPerforming clinical procedures and supporting providersManaging clinical documentation and ordersAssisting with patient discharge and educationYou'll work in a supportive, team-based environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care.Program Expectations & ScheduleEducation Phase: 32 hours/week for 17 weeks dedicated to courseworkExternship: 40 hours/week for 4 weeks at a Baystate Health facilityPost-Externship: 32 hours/week for 2 weeks, including RMA exam preparationOngoing Role: Full-time 40 hours/week Medical Assistant positionSchedule: Monday–Friday, hours range between 8:00-5:30Pay, Benefits & Career GrowthPaid training wage during the programFull-time benefits while training, including:High-quality, low-cost medical and dental insuranceGenerous paid time offRetirement planPay increase upon earning your certificationMedical Assistant career ladder with advancement opportunitiesContinuing education incentives and tuition reimbursementRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDA resume is required with applicationExperience in direct patient care or experience working in a medical office requiredEducation:GED or HiSET (Required)Certifications:Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Certified Medical Assistant - OtherCompensationNote: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range.
