Ophthalmic TechnicianRetina Associates of Kentucky is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician in Louisville, KY. This position requires regular travel to other offices within 1 hour of Louisville. You may need to work a little earlier or later as needed.Requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a favorable result on background check, basic computer skills, strong customer service skills, and excitement to learn and grow.Essential functions include facilitating patient flow, assisting the doctor in preliminary testing, verifying medical and vision insurances, effectively communicating with patients, doctors, and managers, and answering inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests.The Ophthalmic Technician assists in providing excellent patient care to patients during their visit, using equipment to perform initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Ophthalmologist.Duties and responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, practicing urgency with patient and doctor time, complying with company policies including HIPAA, verifying patient information, recording medical history, checking condition of patient's eyes, performing diagnostic tests, demonstrating working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications, and performing general office duties and cleaning.Qualifications include a desire to gain industry knowledge and training, ability to grow, adapt, and accept change, consistently creating a positive work environment, ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner, commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business, and reliable transportation to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice.Education and/or experience include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Licenses and credentials include a current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification, although it is preferred but not required.Systems and technology include proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Physical requirements include frequent walking, sitting, and standing, with regular bending, stooping, and reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 25 lbs, strong fine motor skills, full use of hands, visual and auditory acuity, and occasional driving or climbing.
