Job description

Overview

At Leach Animal Hospital, we believe exceptional pet care starts with an exceptional team. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Medical Director to join our well-established, collaborative practice in Cape Cod / Mashpee, MA . If you’re looking for a career with medical autonomy, opportunities to expand your skills, and the support of a highly experienced team, this is the place for you.

There aren't many Medical Director positions where your commute takes you onto Cape Cod . Leach Animal Hospital is located in Mashpee, with easy access to the Upper and Mid-Cape and the South Shore. When you're not at the hospital, you're surrounded by everything that makes Cape Cod special: beaches, trails, boating, fishing, restaurants, local shops, and some pretty spectacular places to spend a day off.

We’re closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Because leadership is a lot more sustainable when you actually have time away from the hospital.

A Practice With Deep Roots

Leach Animal Hospital isn't a brand-new practice trying to figure out who it wants to be. Our roots in veterinary medicine on Cape Cod go back to 1933 , when the Leach family began caring for animals in the community.

Today, Leach is a modern small animal hospital with an established client base, comprehensive diagnostics, surgical capabilities, and a team committed to continuing that legacy while building the next chapter of the practice. As our Medical Director, you'll play an important role in writing that next chapter.

Why This Medical Director Role Is Different

You’ll have the opportunity to shape the medical culture.

As Medical Director, you'll help establish medical standards, mentor and support fellow veterinarians, collaborate with hospital leadership, and help guide the continued growth of Leach Animal Hospital. You'll have influence, but you won't have to do it alone. Our Medical Director works in partnership with an experienced practice leadership team and receives additional operational and leadership support through Encore Vet Group. That means you can focus your leadership where it matters most: medicine, doctors, patients, and culture.

You’ll Still Get to Be a Veterinarian

Leadership shouldn't mean giving up medicine.

This position combines clinical practice with medical leadership, allowing you to maintain your own caseload while helping other doctors grow.

Leach Animal Hospital offers comprehensive small animal medicine, including:

Soft-tissue surgery and dentistry

Diagnostic imaging, including digital radiology and ultrasound

In-house laboratory capabilities

Preventive and wellness care

Medical case management

Urgent care for established clients

Opportunities to develop and expand areas of clinical interest

Whether your passion is surgery, complex medicine, dentistry, mentorship, or another area of veterinary medicine, we want you to continue doing the work that keeps you excited about being a veterinarian.

What Leadership Looks Like Here

We’re not looking for someone who simply wants "Medical Director" on their résumé.

We’re looking for someone who wants to make a difference.

You’ll help:

Set and maintain high standards for medical quality

Support healthy communication between the doctor and support teams

Partner with practice leadership on hospital goals and opportunities
