Job Summary

Job Type: Per Diem
The Medical Lab Scientist II performs a variety of laboratory tests on blood, tissue and body fluids using both automated and manual methods. Ensures accurate, timely reporting of lab test results in order to assist medical staff in patient care.
Responsibilities
Performs automated and manual patient testing.
Operates instruments and equipment per approved polices and procedures.
Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of chemicals, reagents, and supplies.
Displays effective communication skills regarding lab related issues.
Qualifications
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR , or have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination or equivalent prior to 2/28/92 42 CFR . The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR and 42 CFR ).
Experience:
Required: 2 years as a medical technologist in acute care facility, OR 1 year as a medical technologist in acute facility and a Master's degree.
License:
Required: CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

St. Marys Medical Center (SMMC), part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a 420-bed acute care hospital in West Palm Beach. The hospital has been serving Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast for more than 80 years.SMMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center, a state-designated Pediatric Trauma Referral Center, certified Comprehensive Stoke Center, and has a level III NICU. Pediatric services are provided at the Palm Beach Childrens Hospital at St. Marys Medical Center, which is the only dedicated childrens hospital between Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando.
