Job description
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Full-Time
Ditch the windowless mega-lab assembly line and take back control of your work life.
We are a vital Critical Access Hospital (CAH) tucked away in Michigan's scenic Upper Peninsula. In our facility, you are not just a hidden name signing off on thousands of faceless samples a day. You are a frontline diagnostic partner.
We offer a refreshingly slower pace of life where accuracy and professional pride come before high-volume corporate quotas. Here, you will have the breathing room to focus on high-quality testing, maintain a pristine lab environment, and see the direct, positive impact your results have on patients in our community.
What You Will Do
Run diverse testing: Perform high-quality diagnostic testing across blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.
Ensure exact precision: Manage quality control, calibrate instrumentation, and troubleshoot analyzers without a chaotic rush.
Partner with providers: Collaborate directly with our close-knit team of physicians and nurses to deliver critical stats.
Maintain high standards: Keep the laboratory compliant with all COLA, CAP, and CLIA regulatory guidelines.
Protect local health: Serve as the reliable diagnostic backbone for our local families and neighbors.
Why You Will Love It Here
Sanity over speed: Enjoy a manageable workload that allows you to focus on meticulous science rather than stressful turnaround clocks.
A slower pace: Swap stressful city commutes for peaceful drives through the woods or along the Great Lakes.
The U.P. lifestyle: Spend your days off exploring endless wilderness, hiking waterfalls, or hitting the snowmobile trails.
A welcoming team: Join a small, supportive hospital family where your expertise is genuinely respected and appreciated.
Competitive CAH benefits: Benefit from excellent health insurance, healthy retirement matching, and ample paid time off.
What We Are Looking For
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science
Skills: Strong generalist capabilities with an eye for detail and troubleshooting.
Mindset: A reliable professional who values autonomy, teamwork, and community-centered healthcare.
Experience: Open to both seasoned generalists looking to downshift and new graduates seeking personalized mentorship.
