Medical Office AssistantThe Medical Office Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a healthcare facility by providing comprehensive administrative and clinical support. This position is responsible for managing patient interactions, maintaining accurate medical records, and facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. The Medical Office Assistant contributes to a positive patient experience by handling scheduling, billing, and front-desk duties with professionalism and empathy. Additionally, this role supports clinical staff by preparing examination rooms, assisting with basic medical procedures, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Ultimately, the Medical Office Assistant helps create an organized and welcoming environment that enables healthcare providers to deliver high-quality patient care.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of a Medical Office Assistant certificate or relevant healthcare training program.Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).Strong organizational and communication skills.Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting.CPR certification or basic first aid training.Familiarity with medical billing and coding standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT).Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field.Responsibilities:Greet and check in patients, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing examination rooms, and collecting specimens.Process billing and insurance claims, including coding and following up on outstanding payments.Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and coordinate communication between patients and medical staff.Manage office supplies and equipment to ensure the medical office operates efficiently.Support compliance with healthcare laws, policies, and safety protocols.Skills:The Medical Office Assistant utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage patient schedules, medical records, and billing processes efficiently. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives, ensuring clear and compassionate exchanges. Proficiency with EHR systems and office software enables the assistant to accurately document patient information and streamline administrative workflows. Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures supports the assistant in providing appropriate clinical assistance and understanding healthcare documentation. Additionally, problem-solving skills help address patient concerns and resolve scheduling or billing issues promptly, contributing to a well-functioning medical office environment.Schedule is as follows: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Lunch 12:00 pm-1:00 pm Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Lunch 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
