Medical ReceptionistThe Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the vital first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is responsible for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records to facilitate smooth clinical operations. The Medical Receptionist 1 coordinates communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff, contributing to efficient patient flow and high-quality care delivery. Attention to detail and confidentiality are paramount, as the role involves handling sensitive patient information in compliance with healthcare regulations. Ultimately, this position supports the overall patient experience by providing exceptional customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment.We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Receptionist at Upstate Gastroenterology in Troy, NY.Responsibilities:Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival.Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments or fees as required.Maintain and update patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff.Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to manage patient flow and appointment availability.Prepare and organize patient paperwork and documentation for healthcare providers.Assist with billing and insurance claim processes as needed.Manage waiting area to ensure a comfortable and organized environment for patients.Skills:The required skills enable the Medical Receptionist 1 to efficiently manage patient interactions and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth daily operations. Proficiency with EHR systems and office software allows for accurate scheduling, record-keeping, and communication with healthcare providers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for greeting patients, answering inquiries, and coordinating with clinical staff, fostering a positive patient experience. Attention to detail and confidentiality skills ensure that sensitive patient information is handled appropriately and regulatory compliance is maintained. Preferred skills such as bilingual communication and knowledge of medical terminology further enhance the ability to serve diverse patient populations and support clinical workflows effectively.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required.Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff.Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.Preferred Qualifications:Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.Experience with specific EHR software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.Customer service training or experience in a healthcare setting.We offer competitive base salary, generous benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Voluntary, Time-Off Benefits, EAP, 401K and Commuter Benefits.M-F: 9AM-5PM
