Shift: 6:38 AM - 7:15 PM
Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).
• Travel experience is preferred.
• Experience with Epic is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Texas license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone who worked as Part-Time at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone who worked as Per Diem at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility. References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.
Required Skills/Experience: - Strong IV start skills are required. - RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry. - Travelers may be sent without experience with heparin, amiodarone, or blood transfusions because the unit has resources to help.
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Experience with occasional tracheostomies would be nice but is not required.
Required Credentials: - RNs will take a Relias EKG exam prior to orientation start.
Special Requests: - Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. - Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. - Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. - Daily parking costs $15+/day; monthly parking passes for on- and off-campus garages and lots range from $95 - $120. - PTO cannot be accepted from 12/10 through the first week in January.
Unit Details: - The unit is high-demand and high-acuity, with pulmonary patients including cystic fibrosis and pneumonia, liver patient overflow, sickle cell patients requiring pain management with q1h pain medications, and geriatric patients with active illness, high fall risk, high demand, and family dynamics. MedSurg patients have high needs and high demands. - The 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio is a goal and may flex to 1:6 depending on staffing. - Nurses are required to titrate drips; common titratable or set-rate therapies include heparin, amiodarone, and blood transfusions. - Respiratory support includes nasal cannula, CPAP and BiPAP home regimens, and occasional tracheostomies. - Monitor technicians are on a different unit.
Shift & Scheduling: - Self-scheduling is not available; the manager creates the schedule. - Every other weekend is required. - Holiday scheduling follows the core staff’s rotation; flexibility is required to fill in where needed. - No call.
Floating Requirements: - Travelers are first to float and will float to other MedSurg acuity areas. - RNs must be open to floating; experience with cardiac drips is required.
7 days maximum time off. Facility holidays: 11/26/2026, 12/25/2026, 01/01/2027. Number of holidays allowed off: 1. Start assignment restriction: 14 days. Maximum consecutive days off: 5
2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months
Driver’s license required for submission
