Role Overview
Performs quality diagnostic laboratory testing on various specimens, demonstrating clinical competencies in a range of laboratory procedures. Responsible for preparing reagents, analyzing tests timely, calibrating instruments, and developing new procedures. Ensures compliance with safety, hospital, and department policies while utilizing computer systems for daily operations. Contributes to team efforts, quality improvement, and staff training, maintaining professionalism and ongoing professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and analyze a variety of laboratory tests/procedures with necessary clinical skills.
Prepare reagents, controls, and standards following prescribed protocols.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments.
Research and develop new testing procedures as assigned.
Adhere to safety policies and ensure compliance with hospital and laboratory regulations.
Use computer systems effectively for laboratory and hospital information management.
Assist in training new staff and students, fostering teamwork and quality improvements.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field (foreign education accepted).
ASCP certification eligibility in Medical Technology preferred.
Experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, or Urinalysis is preferred.
Pathway-specific certifications or training (e.g., Military Medical Laboratory training, NAACLS accreditation) are advantageous.
