nHow you Will make a difference
nThe Certified Medication Aide (CMA) administers medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing. Medication administration is performed in accordance with established nursing standards, facility policies and procedures, and applicable state requirements.
nnnAccurately and safely prepare, administer, and document oral and/or topical medications as ordered by the attending physician, per state and federal guidelines.

nnAdhere to the 5 rights of medication administration (right resident, right mediation, right does, right route, right time)
n
nnObserve and document medication administration, including any refusals, omissions, or errors, and promptly notify the Charge Nurse.
n
nnMonitor medication supply levels and coordinate with the Charge Nurse to ensure adequate stock is maintained.
n
nnAdhere to controlled substances, narcotic recordkeeping, and medication destruction requirements per state and federal guidelines.
n
nnAssist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide CNA-level care as needed and directed.
n
nnParticipate in quality assurance and process improvement activities as requested.
n
nnPerform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing.

n nWhat you Need to make a Difference
nnnCurrent Medication Aide Certification and Nursing Assistant Certification in the state of practice.
n
nnStrong attention to detail with accurate medication preparation and documentation skills.
n
nnKnowledge of facility policies and applicable state regulations governing medication administration.
n
nnEffective verbal and written communication skills.
n
nnAbility to work collaboratively within a nursing team and under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
n
nnCustomer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
n
nnApproachable, flexible, and adaptable to change.
n
nnFamiliarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred.
