Job description

Medication AideProvide medications and treatments to residents while upholding service standards, philosophy and mission.Position Responsibilities – ServiceAdministrator medication and treatments in a timely manner and per physician ordersReorder medication as needed to ensure that medication are available when neededReports to medication aide relieving youCount narcotics at beginning and end of shift. Report any discrepancy to Administrator.Remain on duty until relieved by another medication aideTranscribe physicians order to MARS when received and fax to pharmacy.Record vitals signs on MARSStock medicine cartsCall resident's physicians to report the need of appointment or medication.Follow medication management plan.Communicate with facility pharmacy of supply needs.Designated person in charge when administrator in not on siteParticipate in and attend all required in-services training sessions.Communicate any staff or resident issues with the administratorAll task listed on Direct Care Aide Job descriptionAll other duties assignedTeam EffortAssist in ensuring compliance with State and Local RegulationsAppropriately interact with resident, family member, and other guestAssist all department with other duties as needed and/or assigned by AdministratorActionRespond to resident emergencies and act accordinglyCommunicate any resident concerns/issue to the appropriate person in a timely mannerPractice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensilsNo horse playing or agitating residentReputationMaintain professional relationships with all employees - no arguingMaintain good hygiene and a professional appearanceSuccessContribute to resident satisfaction by ensuring that customer's expectations are met or exceededMaintain efficient and appropriate communication with residents, family members and guestContribute to marketing efforts through appropriate interaction with prospective resident and guestEssential skills, experience and abilities:Maintain current Registration with the StateAbility to organize and manage multiple prioritiesStrong customer orientation to older adultsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPositive attitude, enthusiasm and energyAbility to read, write, and comprehendPrevious experience working in a senior living environmentNonessential skills and experience: High school diploma or equivalent certificateDress Code :Nursing Uniforms / Scrub type clothingTennis, Nursing, or Croc type shoes need to be slip resistance. No open toe shoes. Shoes must be worn at all times during working hours.Name tagHair should be up out of the way of careBlack PenNo piercings that dangle. No lip or eyebrow ringsPhysical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and or smell. An individual must have the reading ability at the level to comprehend notes. An individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in up to 75 pounds. Intermittent physical activity includes lifting and supporting residents. The employee must use proper body mechanics. The employee must be free of diseases that can be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during the stage of communicability.Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to minimal to moderate noise. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and is frequently exposed to heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather condition and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemical, extreme cold, and vibration. The employee will be exposed to blood and/or body fluids. The employee may encounter traumatic situations, such as having to care for mentally ill resident and contact the deceased residents. Employee will be scheduled based on operational needs (e.g., shift rotation, standby, on-call, etc.) SLEEPING IS NOT PERMITTED DURING WORKING HOURS.
