Job description

The Medication Aide plays an essential role in supporting residents' health, comfort, and daily experience across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. This position is responsible for administering medications and assisting with daily living activities while ensuring care is delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect for each resident in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

nMedication Administration & Clinical Support in Assisted Living and Memory Care :

nnAdminister prescribed medications as delegated by a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations.

nEnsure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery following all policies and procedures.

nMonitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, and overall response.

nCommunicate any medication-related concerns, changes, or follow-ups to nursing leadership.

nCoordinate with nursing staff to support continuity of care and medication management.

nAccurately document medication administration and treatment completion in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and other required documentation systems.

nMaintain Security, accountability, and proper storage of medications in accordance with state regulations and community policy.

n nResident Care:

nnAssist residents with activities of daily living including eating, bathing, dressing, and mobility.

nProvide snacks and supplements, encourage hydration, and assist with feeding as trained and needed.

nPerform care responsibilities that promote residents' safety, comfort, dignity, choice and independence.

nSupport routines and preferences that reflect each resident's personal lifestyle and choices.

nApproach every interaction with patience, kindness, empathy, and respect.

nUtilize person-centered and dementia-informed care techniques to support residents experiencing cognitive impairment, confusion, anxiety, or behavioral expressions.

n nResident Experience & Engagement:

nnAnswer call lights and pendant systems promptly and respond to resident needs with urgency and compassion.

nPromote meaningful interactions during care-not just task completion.

nEncourage resident participation in daily activities, dining, and social opportunities.

nObserve resident mood, behavior, and engagement, recognizing changes that may impact well-being.

nContribute to an environment where residents feel seen, heard, and valued.

n nDocumentation & Communication:

nnAccurately document outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and culinary services.

nCommunicate changes in condition, behavior, or care needs promptly to the nursing leadership team.

nMaintain clear, timely, and consistent communication with team members across shifts.

nEnsure all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.

n nTeam Collaboration & Culture:

nnPromote and support a positive work environment.

nWork closely with nursing, care staff, culinary, and life enrichment teams to support the full resident experience.

nContribute to a culture where care is person-centered, respectful, and relationship-driven.

nParticipate in team meetings, training, and ongoing development.

n nSafety, Compliance & Infection Control:

nnMaintain confidentiality of all resident and staff health and personal information.

nFollow all Peaceful Pines policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.

nAdhere to OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control and safety practices.

nEnsure care is delivered in a safe, clean, and supportive environment.

nRecognize and report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in condition promptly.

n nGENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

nnMust submit to a TB test in accordance with state regulations.

nMust comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

nMust maintain confidentiality of resident and organizational information.

nAbility to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.

nAbility to respond effectively to resident needs in a timely manner.

n nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

nnLicensed in the state of South Dakota as a Medication Aide (or willingness to complete on-the-job training if not currently licensed).

nPassion for working with seniors and/or caring for others.

nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.

nDependable, team-oriented, and service-minded.

nAbility to provide care with patience, empathy, and attention to detail.
