Job description
Medication TechThe primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.Candidates should hold an active Certificate as a Medication Tech/Aide with the state of Utah.Responsibilities include:Passing medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.Administering accurately and timely.Recording medications administered in the resident's record.Notifying the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.Maintaining a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.Monitoring and reporting any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.Obtaining/providing shift report. Recording sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.Following comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident's needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned.Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents' needs.Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.Documenting information pertaining to changes in residents' status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.Completing accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy.Performing delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.Participating in in-service education programs as assigned.Promptly reporting changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.Following written and oral directions.Performing all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.Being responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.Working cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.Assisting new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.Maintaining confidentiality of resident and facility information.Performing other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
