Job description

Melt PositionThe Melt role is a team-based position and plays a crucial role in the success of each molding line. This role is an entry-level opportunity and does not require any previous experience. However, you must be able to tolerate a loud, warm, and physically challenging work environment. The successful applicant must be able to work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods of time, as well as handle molten metal in a safe and confident manner. The position does offer the opportunity for cross training and experience in a variety of tasks related to production.Job duties and responsibilities include:Basic math, calculator, and computer skills are highly desirableDemonstrate ability to monitor furnace conditionsAccurately take readingsMake refractory repairs to cupola, ladles and furnaces.Haul ironSlag off molten ironRod and dump the furnaceMaintain cleanliness of production areaOperate yard crane to accurately weigh charge metals into the weigh hopperLoad and unload rail carsBreak up returnsMaintain the yard in orderly fashionPlot and adjust chemistry over ironDemonstrate the ability to charge the cupolaOperate bobcat and forkliftMove and process materialsReceive and process scrapEducation/experience requirements:Must be at least 18 years old to applyNo educational requirementsMust be able to read and follow work instructionsCannot be afraid of heightsShifts:Must be available to work 8-12 hour shiftsMust be available for overtime as production needs requireShifts vary according to plant assignmentMonday – Friday, some Saturdays and Sundays required.Typical shift hours:1 shift: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm2 shift: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm3 shift: 10:00 pm - 6:00 am Sunday - ThursdayPay rate:Base pay rate of $27.51, 2nd shift premium: $1.50, 3rd shift premium: $1.00Base rates increase $1/hour upon successful completion of probation (60 working days)Benefits:Health and dental insuranceLife insuranceDisability insurancePaid vacation and holidays401k plan with generous company matchApprenticeship programsOpportunity for advancementNeenah Foundry Company is an equal opportunity employer.
