Job description
Job Responsibilities
Plan and conduct failure analysis investigations including gathering metallurgical data and operating testing equipment (Microscopes, SEM, OES, XRF, Hardness Testers, etc.)
Prepare and examine metallographic specimens for optical microscopy
Operate SEM for fracture assessment, EDS, etc.
Report writing on root cause analyses for failures of metal components including fractures, corrosion, etc.
Other duties and projects as assigned
Training and Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field
Strong Computer Skills and Microsoft Office Proficient
3 years’ experience in laboratory or forensic setting
Experience in operating various testing equipment related to machining operations or welding preferred
Master's Degree and PE preferred
Personal Characteristics
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Leadership skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills with proven ability to take ownership of multiple projects with impeccable attention to detail
