nInstruct students in the specific area of specialty; help students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences and contribute to their development in order to meet high expectations; communicate with parents; create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; participate in professional learning. Windham Public Schools is a welcoming learning environment where all students are prepared for college and career. nEssential Functions:

nnnAdhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility

n

nnEnsures safety of students

n

nnImplements the Windham Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations and directives

n

nnManage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment

n

nnPrepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom

n

nnMaintains accurate and complete records as required

n

nnAssess student learning on continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed

n

nnFollow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education

n

nnMaintains respect for confidential information

n

nnKeeps parents up-to-date of student progress through use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences

n

nnDesign instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed

n

nnDesign clear and specific learning assessments

n

nnMaintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner

n

nnMaintain a positive school community image that encourages ethical student behavior

n

nnMaintain ongoing communication with parents

n

nnOther duties as assigned by Administrator and/or Superintendent

n

n nQualifications/Certificates:

nnnBilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

n

nnActive subject matter certificate as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education

n

nnCT Certification (061) Speech and Language Pathologist

n

nnExperience working with a diverse student demographic

n

nnSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate

n

n nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

nnnAbility to foster and facilitate learning and classroom management

n

nnAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

n

nnEffective, active listening skills

n

nnAbility to work effectively with others

n

nnOrganizational and problem solving skills

n

nnExcellent public relations skills

nDays: Monday - Friday

n

n nSalary Range: $52,802.00 - $105, 604.00 annually

nThis position is benefits eligible.

nnnSchool Calendar: 15 sick days, 5 Personal
