Job description
Apply military and international-law expertise to help train AI systems to recognize and reason through lawful and unlawful boundaries in defense-related scenarios.
Key Responsibilities Develop detailed scenarios involving lawful policy review and limits on military support.
Assess and validate legal taxonomy boundaries through accurate application of the law of armed conflict and international law.
Review and grade model responses for legal soundness, clarity about limitations, and treatment of legal uncertainty.
Identify instances where a model improperly declines legitimate legal or policy questions.
Provide authoritative written and verbal feedback, and collaborate with subject-matter experts to resolve disputed cases.
Qualifications Background as a Judge Advocate or substantial experience in international humanitarian law and the law of armed conflict.
Fluency in rules of engagement and lawful boundaries affecting military and surveillance operations.
Experience advising on operational legal matters in military or government settings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for complex legal concepts.
Demonstrated capability in policy review, case differentiation, and legal-uncertainty reasoning.
Teaching, consulting, or advisory experience in military legal or international-law settings is preferred.
Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, or AI-related legal frameworks is a plus. Prior AI experience is not required.
Work Terms Remote contract engagement.
Compensation $70 to $120 per hour.
