Job description
Mill OperatorThe duties of a Mill Operator include transporting mill product via tractor/trailer throughout the mill and mill yard areas. Must be able to inspect and operate equipment and deliver each load promptly and securely.Days and Shift Information12 Hour Swing Shift - 4/3/4ResponsibilitiesSafely transport mill products using tractor/trailer within mill and yard areas following all mill guidelines and load specifications.Conduct daily equipment inspections, report mechanical issues, and ensure equipment is maintained in a safe, clean condition.Communicate clearly with customers, mill employees, and drivers to coordinate internal logistics and deliveries.Follow all Safe Job Instructions (SJIs), complete required training, and adhere to all federal, state, and local safety regulations.Assist with general mill and yard duties as needed, including aiding in internal logistics and reporting any issues to supervisors.Work EnvironmentOutdoor/indoor mill and yard settingExposure to variable weather conditions, dust, and loud equipment noiseRequires frequent climbing, lifting, and extended periods of driving and equipment operationQualificationsEducation High School Diploma or GED preferredExperience 1–2 years of experience in a similar industrial, trucking, or heavy equipment role preferredFamiliarity with basic vehicle and trailer operationExperience with mill logistics or yard operations is a plusMust be able to operate tractors/trailers and perform basic equipment maintenancePersonality TraitsReliable, safety-conscious, and team-orientedStrong organizational and multitasking skillsExcellent communication (oral and written)Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing needsBasic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify/report issuesPay/Benefits/Perks$17/hrPaid Time Off/VacationMedical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, DisabilityOther benefits include Doc-On-Demand, Tuition Reimbursement, Paid Volunteer Day, Employee Assistance ProgramCulture
