About This JobOur mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion.Join the State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a role as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1 that operates mobile equipment and motor vehicles in support of transportation of our Veterans to and from their doctors appointments, maintenance, grounds, construction, emergency preparedness at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, a 156-bed long-term health care facility.Minimum QualificationsNo experience or training is required.Job SpecificationThe official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:Work in the maintenance department, a 156 bed at a Long-Term health care facility that includes daily maintenance tasks such as operate appropriate buses or other vehicles to transport residents when assigned. Transport residents to and from activities, appointments, outings, or other authorized destinations.Assist with safe loading and unloading of residents, consistent with facility procedures.Operates buses with 12 to 25 passenger capacity. Transport approximately 125 -150 appointments per month. Assist maintenance personnel with moving equipment and materials.Operate equipment during construction, repair, renovation, or grounds projects.Required transportation, drive during emergency preparedness evacuations of resident to and from host facilities.Reports resident complaints and incidents, collaborating with you Facility Maintenance Manager 2 to ensure all complaints and incidents are properly handled.Safety, maintain a safe, clean and effective work environment for residents and employees.Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: ProbationalCompensation Ranges – Depending on experienceWork Schedule: Hours to be determine to include some emergency weekends and holidays.How To Apply:No Civil Service test scores required in order to be considered for this vacancy.To apply for this vacancy, click on the "Apply" link above and complete an electronic application, which can be used for this vacancy as well as future job opportunities.
