This is Monday - Thursday (4 -10 hour shifts) 3:30pm-1:30am.This position is designed to give individuals with little or no machining or grinding background the skills they need to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney.Employees selected for this position will attend a 3-week training program and participate in 4-8 weeks of on the job training.Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTC's to perform routine production operations on a variety of similar weldments and assemblies.Learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and/or chamfering operations involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM)Learn to work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development.Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.What You Will LearnSkills, systems, and processes critical to aerospace manufacturing within a state of the art facility.Training and advancement opportunities at all levels through a supportive and collaborative employee experience.On-the-job training using the most advanced technology in the industry today.Qualifications You Must HaveHigh School or GEDQualifications We Prefer1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experienceAbility to make computations involving decimals and fractionsAbility to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneouslyWhat We OfferBonus Plan – eligible to participate in the Company's Aerospace Variable Plan (AVP)Comprehensive Benefits Program - medical, dental, vision and life insurancePaid time off including vacation, personal/sick time, and holidaysAdditional Leaves including short-term & long-term disability, parental leave, bereavement leave, jury duty coverage, and military leaveSavings & Investment Plan with company match & employer contributionsFlexible savings and spending accountsEmployee Assistance Program with onsite and referral resources to support a Healthy YouEmployee Scholar Program – one of the most comprehensive company-sponsored employee education programs in the world (No waiting period!)Employee discounts and rebates programIn addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work.
