Job description
Mold Maintenance TechnicianFreeman Boatworks, recognized around the world for quality, performance, and comfort, is seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for mold repairs, fiberglass lamination, tooling gel application, foam jig assembly, and fabrication work supporting the production and maintenance of molds and master parts of all sizes.What You'll Be DoingInspect molds and parts to identify repair needs and determine appropriate repair methodsRepair surface defects in tooling gel, including scratches, voids, and surface distortionUse grinders, sanders, buffers, drills, and other specialty tools to complete repairs and finishing workMix and apply tooling gel, resins, and repair materials while following all safety and disposal proceduresPerform spot spraying of tooling gel as neededAssemble foam jigs and apply tooling gel to completed assembliesLaminate multiple layers of fiberglass to meet mold specifications and thickness requirementsWeld and attach steel frames to new moldsBuild and frame glass master parts from existing moldsModify, repair, and finish existing glass mastersMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaWhat You NeedPrevious experience with fiberglass, gel coat, composite repair, or auto body repair preferredExperience mixing gel coats, resins, paints, or activators preferredFamiliarity with repair and fabrication tools including sanders, buffers, grinders, and spray equipmentWelding experience is a plusStrong attention to detail and craftsmanshipAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentAbility to follow safety procedures and quality standardsPhysical RequirementsIncluding, but not limited to:Climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, stretching, squatting, and bendingAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to work in awkward positions or tight spaces for extended periodsAbility to work in a non-climate-controlled environmentExposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, fiberglass, resins, acetone, cleaners, and outdoor weather conditionsWhat We OfferCompetitive weekly payPaid time off and paid holidaysComprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, company-paid life insurance, disability coverage, and more401(k) with company matchA team-oriented workplace focused on craftsmanship, innovation, and continuous improvementPlease note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
