Job description
Mold Maker / Mold Repair ApprenticeThe Mold Maker / Mold Repair Apprentice performs machine tool work, welding, brazing or bench work required in making repairs and alterations to molds, blanks, bottom plates or finish equipment. This position may also include machine tool or bench work on new mold equipment.The Mold Maker / Mold Repair Apprentice is expected to complete the 4-year apprentice program, which includes on-the-job training and classroom time (this is outside of normal work hours) and they will be interviewed by the Apprenticeship Committee of the United Steel Workers, Local 64.The Mold Maker / Mold Repair Apprentice will:Repair parts including sanding, welding, griding, cutting and polishing as neededUse multiple air tools, hand tools, spray welders, CNC, lathes and torchesInspect and measure parts after work is completedDeliver job change mold equipment and assist with job changesThe Mold Maker / Mold Repair Apprentice should have:Experience using specialized measuring devices such as micrometers and calipersExperience reading blueprintsCNC programming skillsWelding experienceA desire to learn and grow into the Journeyman positionHigh School Diploma or equivalent2-year technical degree in tool and die making or machine technology or equivalent years of direct work experiencePrevious experience CNC machine experience is highly desiredMust be able to pass the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension TestMust be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basisShift: Monday – Friday / Hours: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm and able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends as neededHourly Wage: $38.83 hourO-I offers a very generous benefit package – some of the highlights are:Vacation time and paid holidaysMedical, dental, prescription and vision care coveragePre-tax accountsWell-being program which includes opportunity to earn employer contributionsLife and AD&D InsuranceDisability Insurance401(k) retirement saving plans with employer contributionsFinancial advisors to assist with retirement planning and financial wellnessEmployee Assistance ProgramAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.O-I is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture.
