Job description
This position is for a Full-Time MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) Technologist responsible for ensuring the safe operation of MRI equipment and maintaining compliance with safety protocols. The role involves approximately 90% MRSO duties, including overseeing safety policies, conducting hazard assessments, and enforcing safety standards, as well as about 10% MRI scanning duties. The MRSO collaborates with leadership to develop safety procedures, educates staff on MRI safety, and manages active device workflows, such as pacemakers and stimulators. The position requires providing patient care, maintaining core competencies, and working independently or with a team.
Qualifications & Skills:
Associate degree or higher;
Certification as a Registered Technologist in Radiography (R.T.(R))) and MRI (R.T.(MR))) through ARRT or equivalent;
Certified MRI Safety Officer (MRSO);
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience;
Strong knowledge of MRI equipment, safety standards, and regulatory compliance;
Excellent communication and patient-care skills;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee MRI safety activities, including hazard prevention, equipment testing, and staff training;
Serve as the subject matter expert for MRI safety inquiries;
Coordinate safety protocols for active device management and participate in safety programs and research;
Conduct safety assessments and enforce policies to protect personnel and patients;
Maintain MRI competencies and provide patient care as needed.
Additional preferred qualifications include 5-10 years of experience and CPR certification. The role emphasizes safety sensitivity, professional judgment, and adherence to regulatory standards.
