Under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized MRI imaging procedures. Leads clinical and ancillary.

Imaging staff in MRI.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibility 1: Executes clinical competence in MRI across all locations and all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Administers contrast according to facility policy. Applies knowledge of MRI principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, MR safety and physics, patient positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards. Actively participates, and takes a leadership role, in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality. Participates as a clinical competency evaluator for students and/or a preceptor for employee training and educational activities. Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.

Key Responsibility 2: Leads clinical and ancillary staff of the MRI department and facilitates a productive workflow for efficient department operation. Maintains inventory of departmental supplies.

Key Responsibility 3: Performs quality assurance activities. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions and assures proper follow-up correction by repair services. Resolves clinical/functional issues and escalates problems to the appropriate leadership.

Key Responsibility 4: Provides feedback on staff performance; trains and orients imaging personnel in procedures, equipment, and information systems. Collaborates with departmental leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate budgetary functions, personnel performance, staff scheduling, and educational activities. Actively participates in coaching/mentoring staff in all aspects of job performance.

Key Responsibility 5: Oversees documentation of patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.

Education & Experience - Required

Associate degree, or Certificate, in radiologic technology, or MRI, from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

3+ years

ARMRIT and/or ARRT (MRI) Certification

Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in health science or related field

4+ years MRI experience
