Job description
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is seeking candidates for a Neuro‑Ophthalmology position that will involve patient care, teaching, and research. Clinical activities will include patient care at local UW Health clinic locations. Teaching activities will involve medical students, residents, and fellows. Research activities may include participation in clinical trials and/or translational research.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
At least a 40% FTE neuro‑ophthalmology practice within the UW Department of Ophthalmology at one or more of its ophthalmology care sites.
If not a full‑time position in neuro‑ophthalmology of 80% FTE, then an additional 40% FTE in any other ophthalmology practice (with appropriate certified residency and fellowship training) in: comprehensive ophthalmology, glaucoma, oculoplastic surgery, ophthalmic pathology, pediatric ophthalmology/adult strabismus, as examples; neurology practice if a certified neurologist; research if clinician‑scientist; or neuro‑ophthalmology/neurology practice in another non‑UW ophthalmology/neurology practice.
20% FTE for administration, teaching, etc.
Board‑certified or board eligible for Wisconsin Medical License by start of position.
Completion of a U.S. Neuro‑ophthalmology accredited residency and fellowship by start date of the position.
Relevant experience in clinical practice.
Interest in medical student and resident education.
MD or DO, or equivalent required.
For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.
