Pediatric Neurosurgery Physician Assistant Locum Opportunity Massachusetts
Position Overview
A leading academic healthcare organization is seeking a Physician Assistant with pediatric neurosurgery experience to provide inpatient coverage. This role focuses exclusively on patient care management and does not include operating room responsibilities.
Compensation:
Hourly: $140/hr
Overtime: $140/hr
Holiday: $195/hr
Assignment Details
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
Three 13-hour shifts per week
6:00 AM 7:00 PM
No nights
No holidays
Weekend coverage may be included
Practice Setting
Inpatient hospital setting
Academic teaching environment with resident support
Epic EMR
Patient Population
Pediatric patients
Clinical Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant will provide inpatient pediatric neurosurgery support, including:
Daily rounding with residents and neurosurgery team
Reviewing and implementing patient care plans
Entering and managing orders
Patient evaluations and follow-up assessments
Discharge planning and coordination
Ongoing inpatient care management
Procedures & Skills
Preferred experience with:
Removal of Hemovac drains
Removal of JP drains
Operating Room Responsibilities
No operating room duties required
Residents assist in surgical procedures
APP role is strictly focused on inpatient patient care
Qualifications
Required
Board Certified Physician Assistant
Active Massachusetts license
Minimum of 1 year of neurosurgery experience
Epic EMR experience
Preferred
Pediatric neurosurgery experience
Experience managing inpatient neurosurgical patients
Comfort with drain management and removal
Credentialing
Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 90 days
Massachusetts license required at presentation
No licensing assistance available
