Job description
We are seeking an experienced Neurosurgeon to provide comprehensive onsite neurosurgical care to Veterans at Healthcare facility. This long-term contract opportunity offers the chance to work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary medical team while providing high-quality clinical, surgical, inpatient, and on-call care.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in neurological surgery and be committed to delivering patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide outpatient neurosurgical consultations , evaluations, and follow-up care.
Perform neurosurgical procedures, including cranial and spinal surgeries .
Manage intraoperative patient care and provide postoperative rounding in the SICU and inpatient wards .
Conduct inpatient neurosurgical consultations, including bedside evaluations for non-ambulatory patients.
Develop treatment plans and coordinate care with multidisciplinary medical teams.
Provide patients and families with discharge education, treatment instructions, and follow-up planning .
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the (EMR) .
Participate in Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) conferences and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Provide 24/7 neurosurgical call coverage as required.
Schedule & Call Requirements
Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–5:00 PM onsite clinical and OR coverage.
Inpatient rounding as needed, On-Call 24/7 neurosurgical call coverage as required, Telephone Response: Within 15 minutes, Onsite Response: Within 60 minutes when required.
Required Qualifications
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neurological Surgery / Neurosurgery .
Valid and unrestricted medical license/certification appropriate for the practice location.
Ability to meet VA facility credentialing and privileging requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of experience in Neurological Surgery / Neurosurgery .
Experience performing spinal and cranial neurosurgical procedures.
Experience providing inpatient, outpatient, operative, and emergency neurosurgical care.
Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
