Job description

NICU Clinical Pharmacist Specialist

We are seeking a highly specialized NICU Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to provide advanced clinical pharmacy services for critically ill neonatal patients in Houston, Texas. This opportunity is designed for a pharmacist with dedicated pediatric residency training and hands-on NICU experience who can contribute specialized medication expertise within a high-acuity neonatal care environment.

The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will provide direct pharmacy support for critically ill neonates, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the NICU care team. This role requires an advanced understanding of neonatal pharmacotherapy and the clinical judgment necessary to support safe, effective, and individualized medication management for medically complex newborns.

Required Qualifications

Completion of a PGY2 Residency in Pediatrics

Candidates with a PGY2 Residency in Critical Care may be considered if they have current NICU experience

Current Texas Pharmacist License

Demonstrated NICU clinical pharmacy experience

Experience providing direct clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates

Strong knowledge of neonatal pharmacotherapy and medication management

Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary NICU team

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive clinical pharmacy experience within a high-acuity NICU environment

Advanced knowledge of medication dosing, monitoring, and pharmacotherapy for neonatal patients

Experience collaborating directly with neonatologists and multidisciplinary critical-care teams

Strong clinical decision-making and medication-safety skills

Experience contributing to evidence-based pharmacy practices within neonatal critical care

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a NICU-focused clinical pharmacist who has completed a PGY2 residency in Pediatrics and has direct experience managing pharmacotherapy for critically ill neonates. A pharmacist with PGY2 Critical Care training may also be a strong candidate when paired with current, substantive NICU clinical experience.

This position is particularly well suited for a pharmacist who is already comfortable functioning as a specialized member of a neonatal critical-care team and can bring advanced medication expertise to complex NICU patients.

Compensation

$131,000 – $156,000 annually

Compensation within the listed range will be determined based on the candidate's NICU clinical experience, residency training, specialized pharmacy expertise, qualifications, and overall alignment with the position.
