Night Shift CNC – Plasma Cutting Machine OperatorMeyer Utility Structures is searching for a night shift CNC – Plasma Cutting Machine Operator for our new location in Clinton, IL. This operator will be required to operate and maintain a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) plasma cutting machine to fabricate parts from metal plates and sheets, ensuring all products meet quality and safety standards.Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today's transmission industry standards and specifications.What You'll Do:Set up and operate the CNC plasma cutting machine according to drawings or program numberSafely load and unload raw metal materials onto the cutting table, often using an overhead crane or forklift to move finished products to the appropriate holding areasInput or download programs via flash drive or direct connect, adjust machine settings (e.g., cutting speeds, gas pressures, amperage) and perform test runs to ensure specifications are metInspect and measure finished products using precision instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to verify dimensions and quality, following established quality assurance proceduresPerform routine preventive maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly), replace worn consumables (tips, nozzles, electrodes), troubleshoot operational malfunctions, and report major issues to supervisors or maintenance teamsAdhere to all health and safety procedures and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper ventilation and groundingAccurately record production data, complete work orders, document machine activities and irregularities, and collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflowWhat You'll Need:Prior experience operating a plasma table or similar CNC machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environmentBasic computer literacy and knowledge of relevant software (e.g., CAD for nesting programs)Ability to read tape measureMechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills for troubleshootingMeticulous attention to detail and a results-driven approachAbility to work independently or as part of a teamStrong communication skillsAbility to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, and kneelAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Working hours are 6 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.Compensation and Benefits:Meyer Utility Structures is proud to offer competitive benefits and programs to help you and your family meet your healthcare and retirement planning needs.
