VHC Health - Nocturnist GI Hospitalist
Position: Full-Time Nocturnist Gastroenterology Hospitalist
Location: Arlington, VA (DC Metro / DMV Area)
VHC Health is seeking a Board-Certified GI Hospitalist to join our growing, patient-centered program at our main hospital campus in Arlington, Virginia-a leading medical hub in the Washington, DC metro region.
This opportunity is ideal for Gastroenterologists interested in a dedicated overnight inpatient role, providing high-acuity GI care with a balanced schedule.
Opportunity Highlights
Full-time employed nocturnist position within a highly reputable, award-winning health system
Dedicated inpatient GI hospitalist role focused on consults, urgent procedures, and acute care management
Hospital-based practice at VHC Health's Main Hospital Campus in Arlington, VA

Collaborative environment with hospitalists, intensivists, and subspecialists

Schedule
7-on / 7-off block schedule
Weekday shift hours: 5:00 PM - 7:00 AM call (holding pager, availability for emergent procedures or in-house consults)
Weekend shift hours: 5:00 PM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday (call coverage, holding pager, covering inpatient consults and procedures)
Position Responsibilities
Provide clinical overnight inpatient gastroenterology services
Manage acute GI conditions and other urgent/emergent presentations
Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine, ICU, and Hospitalist teams
Ensure timely documentation and structured handoff to daytime GI physicians
Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and risk management initiatives
Support VHC Health's mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of Gastroenterology fellowship
Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Gastroenterology
Experience with inpatient GI and endoscopy preferred (new graduates with strong training encouraged to apply)
Eligible for or licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions
