Job description
Patient Care AssociatePosition Summary: Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.Responsibilities:Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.Performs other related job duties as requested.Patient Experience:Conduct routine patient rounds to identify concerns, improve communication, and recover service issues before patient discharge.Work with the patient, family members, and medical staff as an advisor to facilitate the resolution of care issues.Provide follow-up services to patients to ensure optimal customer service.Document, analyze, and implement programs that address patient concerns and help increase customer satisfaction.Required:High School Diploma or equivalentFormal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR two or more years' experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant roleBLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start datePreferred:Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificationOne-year prior work experience in a patient care environmentPrevious process improvement and customer service experience in a healthcare environment
