Nurse Extern Float Pool at HCA Healthcare, Wichita, KS.

Job Summary

As a Nurse Extern you will deliver high quality, patient‑centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. You will work under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN).

Responsibilities

Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.

Assist the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with your Nurse Extern's skills/training and the needs of the department.

Consistently assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well‑organized, and safe patient care environment.

Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, intake and output, and calorie counts.

Participate as an active member of the health care team and positively promote the team to patients, families, caregivers, and other colleagues.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing school.

Foundations/Fundamentals course completed.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Ability to perform higher‑level procedures once competency is achieved.
