About the Position: This is a time limited position. The Nurse III position is critical to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of public health services within the clinic. This experienced Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with Public Health Nursing standing orders and under the direction of an APRN, Physician, or the Regional Health Officer, including comprehensive assessments, medication administration, and vaccine administration. In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, Nurse III serves as the primary nursing supervisor for the clinic, overseeing all other nurses and medical personnel. This role includes assigning and monitoring workloads, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and infection control standards, supporting staff development, and mentoring nursing students to help build the future workforce. Centralizing nursing leadership in this position promotes consistency in practice, enhances communication, and improves overall quality of care. Nurse III also plays a key role in the management and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) patients, a high-priority public health function. This includes conducting assessments, administering and monitoring TB treatment regimens, ensuring adherence to therapy, providing patient and family education, and coordinating care with providers and public health partners. Effective TB management is essential to disease control and prevention in the community and requires the advanced clinical judgment and experience of a Nurse III.
What you'll need to be Successful: Successful candidate should possess excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills. Employee must prioritize work to meet deadlines and be an effective team player. Employee must be knowledgeable of MSDH programs and use that knowledge effectively to assist clients and the public.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires state licensure as a Registered Nurse and 2+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
