nProvides Direct Support To: Federal Medical Center (FMC) Devens
nWorksite: 42 Patton Road, Ayer, Massachusetts 01432
nDuty Hours: Typically between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch ; schedule may be adjusted to meet institutional needs. Not to exceed 40 hours per week.
nPosition Summary
nThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive primary and urgent healthcare services to Adults in Custody (AICs) within a federal correctional healthcare setting. Working in close coordination with the Health Services Administrator, Clinical Director, Medical Officer, and Advanced Practice Practitioners, the NP delivers diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care consistent with facility policies, professional standards, and applicable regulations.
nEssential Duties & Responsibilities
nnnProvide direct clinical care to AICs, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
n
nnObtain medical histories; perform physical examinations; order, interpret, and act upon laboratory and radiographic studies.
n
nnDevelop and document evidence-based treatment plans; prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure and formulary guidelines.
n
nnClinically manage injuries (e.g., suturing, splinting, immobilization ) and attend to medical emergencies.
n
nnCoordinate care and consults with on-site leadership and external providers when clinically indicated.
n
nnDocument care (progress notes, orders, referrals) clearly and timely in the medical record; recommend clinically necessary outside consultations.
n
nnEducate and instruct patients regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and preventive health practices.
n
nnParticipate in quality, safety, and infection-control practices; adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
n
n nMinimum Qualifications
nnnEducation/Licensure:
n
nnLicensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in any U.S. state or jurisdiction, active, valid, current, and unrestricted (no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions).
n
nnDocumentation required: education, current licensure and status, clinical competency, and proof of malpractice insurance .
n
nnIV therapy training documentation/certification from one or more of the following: post-graduate level course, credit for previous education, or nontraditional education.
n
nnExperience & Skills:
n
nnProficiency with routine office-related duties including computers and word-processing software ; ability to type and document efficiently.
n
nnStrong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary medical team.
n
nnEmployment History:
n
nnNo negative employment terminations within the past 36 months prior to contract start.
n
nnPopulation Care:
n
nnDemonstrated ability to provide care to an AIC population representing diverse cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
n
n nSchedule & Work Conditions
nnnServices are provided on-site at FMC Devens during the hours noted above; schedule may be adjusted to meet operational needs.
n
nnCompliance with all institutional policies, professional standards of care, and confidentiality requirements is mandatory.
n
n nShift Schedule:
nTypically scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Work schedule may be adjusted based on institutional needs. Total hours will not exceed 40 hours per week.
nUp to 40 hours per week, based on operational needs.
