U.S. Got People is seeking a Nurse Practitioner – Neonatal at the Women’s Health Department at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC).

Competitive Pay: $65.00/hour,plus $5.42/hr H&W

Qualifications:

Degree/Education: Master’s degree in nursing. Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on CollegiateNursing Education (CCNE).

Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support (STABLE).

Board Certification: Certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses,American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).

licensure shall have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license specific to the position (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) throughout the duration of the contract worker’s performance on the contract. Additional licenses held by a contract worker must be in good standing whether they are inactive, expired or limit the contract worker’s practice to a military setting. The Contractor shall adhere to requirements outlined in the applicable regulation/directive at the place of performance.

Experience: MINIMUM 1 year experience within the last 2 years postgraduation/training. Residency/training does not count towards the one year of experience.

SPECIFIC TASKS.

Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).

Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.

Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.

Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.

Provide care for infants and their families in the Delivery Room, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Step Down Nursery, and Special Care Nursery, and other hospital areas as needed under the direct supervision of the Medical Director.

Assist in the case management of the most complex neonatal patient through assessing, monitoring and evaluating care, i.e. disease process, comorbidities and other ongoing issues.

Provide consultation and follow-up on a select group of neonatal patients with major problems such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances, ventilation issues, anemia, jaundice, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN) and/or other unusual complications.

As the neonatal advanced practice nursing subject matter expert, actively participates in discharge planning teams, clinical pathway development and implementation.

Collaborate with other healthcare providers to identify the most cost-effectiveoptions or alternatives to treatment.

Performs healthcare delivery systems analysis and provides recommendations to other healthcare providers regarding diagnostic specific clinical pathway events to facilitate efficient, effective, quality patient care

As necessary, refers patients and or family members to health professionals in other fields, i.e., social work, dietary, chaplains, psychiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and cardiac rehabilitation.

Explore methods and processes to reduce resource consumption ensuring that the patient receives quality care at the most appropriate level.

Evaluate the effects of case management on target populations to improve health care delivery.

Perform data collection, compiles data, creates, accesses, updates, and maintains security of computer databases concerning care delivered to facilitate patient outcomes.

Generate statistical reports regarding access to and outcome of care provided for the purposes of process improvement and ensuring optimal patient outcomes and appropriate resource utilization. This involves computation, analysis, tracing/trending, graphing and preparation of summary management reports.

Assist the critically ill neonatal patient and family to cope with an existing problem or situation.

Consultation consists of problem solving which may be with an individual, group, agency or colleagues. Problems usually concern, but are not limited to, standards of care, equipment, facilities, and delivery systems/processes.

Coordinate required transport of neonates with higher level NICU and transport team. Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educationallectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.

Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.

Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.

Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.

Document all outpatient encounters within 72 hours and inpatient encounters on the date of service or otherwise as in accordance with applicable policies and directives.

Be rated satisfactory minimum on MGMA. Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
